Malabar Beef Kuruma

Malabar Beef Kuruma
        One of the most delicious curry of Malabar.In this recipe, coconut milk and verity of spices are used. It goes well with thenga choru, (coconut rice), ghee rice, hot steaming rice etc.

INGREDIENTS

1.Beef  - 500 gms.
2. Onion sliced – 2 large sliced.
3. Tomato  - 1chopped.
4. ginger paste – 1tsp.
5. garlic Paste – 1 tsp.
6. green chili – 3- 3 nos.
7.Black peppercorn – 10 nos.
8. Whole red chili – 5-6 nos.
9.Coriander powder – 2 tsp.
10.Turmeric powder – ½ tsp.
11.Cinnamon seeds – 2-3 nos.
12.Cloves – 4-5 nos.
13.Cardamom.
14.Coconut milk – 1cup.
15.Salt to taste.
16.Coconut oil -3 T oil.
17.Curry leaves.
18.Coriander leaves.
19.Water.
20.Shallot – 4-5 nos.
21.Fenugreek seeds – 1tsp. 

Method of Preparation:
1.Dry roast whole red chili, cinnamon seeds, cloves  and cardamom.
2.In a blender, take shallots, dry roasted red chili, cinnamon seeds, cloves, cardamom, coriander powder, turmeric, black pepper with water, and make a thick paste.
3.Heat the oil in a pan. To this add fenugreek seeds, then add onion and some salt. Fry the onion until golden brown. Then add ginger and garlic paste,green chili and chopped tomato, curry leaves and  coriander leaves, cook until soft.
4.Add the grounded paste, mix well.
5.Add in beef pieces, stir until well coated.
6.Now add lemon juice and 2 cups water, allow it to boil in high flame. When it boils add salt.Cook it for 45- 50 mins. ( you can also use pressure cooker).
7.When beef almost cooked, add the coconut milk.
Allow it to warm and switch off the flame.
8. At last drizzle some coconut oil, and sprinkle some curry leaves. 
9.Serve hot. Enjoy!!!!
