Chakkakkuru parippu curry / Jackfruit seeds dal curry
     Chakkakkuru parippu curry / Jackfruit seed Dal curry is a simple and tasty dish.  In this Jackfruit seeds pieces are cooked in a mildly spiced dal, onion, tomato and coconut gravy. It goes well with rice, etc. Let’s see how we can prepare it….

Ingredients:
  1. Jackfruit seeds – 1 cup, peeled and halved
  2. Toor dal – ½ cup.
  3. Onion – 1 no.
  4. Tomato – 1 no.
  5. Green chillies – 3-4 nos.
  6. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp.
  7. Red Chilly powder – 1 tsp.
  8. Salt.
  9. To make paste:

            Grated coconut – ½ cup.
            Garlic cloves – 3-3 nos.
            Cumin seeds – ½ tsp.
            Shallots – 2-3 nos.
            Curry leaves.
            Green chillies – 2-3 nos.
10. To make tempering:
            Dry red chillies – 3-4 nos.
            Mustard seeds – ½ tsp.
            Curry leaves
            Oil

Method of Preparation:



  1. Soak toor dal in water for 30 minutes, and cook it in a pressure cooker. And keep it aside.
  2. In an earthen pan add onion, green chillies, chopped tomatoes, peeled jackfruit seeds,  turmeric powder, red chillies  and salt.
  3. Add enough amount of water and mix well. Close the lid and cook it well.
  4. Grind grated coconut, green chillies, shallots, garlic, curry leaves and cumin seeds to a smooth paste.
  5. Add cooked dal to the vegetable mixture, when vegetables are cooked well. Mix well and allow it to boil.
  6. Then add ground coconut paste ,mix well and cook for 5 minutes stirring in between. Adjust salt.
  7. Now our Jackfruit seeds dal curry is cooked well. Switch off the flame.
  8. Make tempering to our curry, for this heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves.
  9. Pour this tempering to our curry and mix well.
  10. Now our jack fruit seed dal curry is ready to serve. Serve with plain rice.
  11. Serve hot... Enjoy!!!...
