Sweet Chatti Pathal / Chatti Pathiri
Sweet Chatti pathal / Chatti Pathiri is a dish that has layers of chappathi/ pancakes and sweet filling.

Ingredients:

For the Pathiris:

  • Plain flour - 1 cup.
  • Warm water.
  • Salt to taste.

For the filling:
  • Egg – 2-3 nos.
  • Grated coconut – 5 tbspn.
  • Raisins – 3 tbspn.
  • Cashew nuts (broken) – 3 tbspn.
  • Poppy seeds(Couscous) / sesame seeds – 3 Tbspn.
  • Sugar – 4-5 tbspn.
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tsp.
  • Ghee – 2 tbspn.



For Coating:
  • Eggs – 5-6 nos.
  • Milk – 1 cup.
  • Sugar – 2-3 tbspn.
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tsp.
  • Ghee – 2 tbspn.

Method of Preparation:
For the filling:
  1. Heat ghee in a pan. Roast raisins and broken cashew nuts. Then add poppy seeds / seasame seeds and grated coconut. Saute until change the colour slightly.
  2. Then add egg, cardomom powder and sugar to it, scramble the whole mixture until the egg is well cooked. Keep it aside.
For the Pathiris/ Chappathi:
  1. Mix the flour with salt and water. knead it well and make into a dough like chappathi.
  2. Keep it for 30 mins. 
  3. Divide the dough into 7 equal portions. Roll it out into paper-thin chapathies of uniform size.(6 “ diameter).
  4. The size of the chappathi depending on the size of the pathiri chatti or the vessel in which you are baking it.
  5. Heat a tawa and cook the chappathis lightly. Keep them aside.

For the coating and the assembling.
  1. Beat the  5-6 eggs, sugar and cardamom in a vessel and keep aside.
  2. Take a non-stick baking tray / sauce pan, spread 2 tbspn. of ghee in it. 
  3. Dip one pathiri in milk and egg batter, keep this pathiri as first layer, sprinkle filling on top of the pathiri.
  4. Dip other pathiri in milk and egg batter, place it on top of the filling, keep this pathiri as second layer, sprinkle filling on top of the pathiri.
  5. Like this make all layers.
  6. Pour the remaining egg mixture on top of pathiri so that it cover all the gaps on sides and form a thin layer on top.
  7. Bake it over the stove top for about 2-3 minutes on medium  flame and 10-15 minutes over the low flame.
  8. After that carefully flip it to another pan, again bake it for some more time (8- 10 mins.).
  9. Now our tasty sweet chatti pathiri is ready to serve. Cut it to desired shape. Serve hot. Enjoy!!!
