Kerala Style Vegetable Semiya Upma |
Upma is my all time favorite. Here
I am preparing an upma by using semiya and vegetables.
This is a modern version of south
indian upma is how I make it at home and adapted from my mom’s recipe.

Preparation time : 5 mins.
Cooking time : 15 mins.
Serves : 2 members.
Ingredients:
1. Semiya - 1cup.
(roasted or regular)
2. Onion -1 chopped.
3. Cabbage - ¼ cup chopped.
4. Capsicum - ¼ cup chopped.
5. Beans - ¼ cup
chopped.
6. Carrot - ¼ cup chopped.
7. Ginger paste - 1 tsp.
8. Garlic Paste - 1 tsp.
9. Green Chillies- 3 slit sideways.
10.Coriander leaves - Finely chopped
11. Curry leaves.
12. Pepper powder.
13. Salt to taste
14. Oil - 2
tblsp.
15. Soya sauce - ½ tsp.
16. Water.
Methods
of Preparation:
1. Boil water in a wide pan, Add salt
and semiya. Allow it to cook.
2. Drain the water and keep aside.
3.In a pan, heat oil, add onions and
fry till they become transparent. This time you can also add salt.
4. Now add the green chilies garlic and
ginger. Mix it well.
5. To this, add carrots, Beans, Capsicum,
Cabbage and mix well.
6. Add Soya sauce, pepper powder and
coriander leaves and mix well.
7. Lower the flame and add the semiya to it.
8. Keep on stirring.
9. Reduce the flame, cover by using
lid, and let it cook for 2- 3 minutes.
10. Switch off the flame and wait for
another 5 minutes.
11. Open the lid and stir well. Now our upma
is ready.
12. Garnish upma with coriander leaves.
13. Now our vermicelli upma is ready to serve. Serve upma hot. Enjoy!!!!!
