Nadan Chembu kootan / Taro curry/ Colocasia curry |
Chembu Curry is a traditional
Kerala Curry and is very tasty
Ingredients
1.
Taro / Chembu - 2 cups ( Medium sized pieces ).
2.
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp.
3.
Green chillies – 2-3 nos ( Split
length-wise ).
4.
Yoghurt – ½ cup.
5.
Curry leaves.
6.
Mustard seeds / Kaduku - 1tsp.
7.
Whole red chilly. – 2.
8.
Salt to taste.
9.
Coconut Oil.
10. Water.
Method of Preparation:
1. First peel the skin of taro /
chembu and wash it nicely.Then cut taro to
medium sized pieces.
2. Take a pan, to this add chembu, green chillies, salt, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and enogugh amount of water. Allow it to cook.
3. evaporate all water from this vegetable mixture.
4.When water evaporates add yoghurt and
slowly mix it.
5.Heat oil in a pan and add
mustard seeds and when it crackles, add curry leaves and red chillies. Pour this to the curry we already made. Mix well.
6.Now our nadan chembu kootan is ready
to serve.
7. Serve hot with plain rice. Enjoy!!!!
