Cabbage Thoran / Cabbage Sabji
     Cabbage thoran is one of menu items in onam sadya. It goes well with plain rice, chapathi etc. Let’s see how we can prepare it.

Ingredients


1. Cabbage - 1.5 cups shredded.

2. Onion – 1 cup.
3. Green chilly – 3 nos.
4. Grated coconut – ¼ cup.
5. Chana dal – 1 tbspn.
6. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

7. Salt – to taste

To temper:
1.     Coconut Oil - 2 tsp
2.     Curry leaves - a small sprig
3.     Red Chillies - 2 broken
4.     Mustard seeds – 1 tsp.

Methods of preparation:
1. Grate / chop cabbage finely.
2. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, when it splutters add curry leaves and red chillie.
3. o this add green chilly and chana dal. saute it for some time. Then add chopped onions and some salt.
4. Transfer chopped cabbage. Sprinkle some salt and turmeric powder.
5. Stir well, no need to add any water and cook covered until cabbage turns soft.
6. Stir occasionally, make sure that it doesn't get burnt at the bottom.
7. Once cabbage is cooked, finally add coconut give a quick stir and switch off.
8. Now our cabbage thoran is ready to serve. You can serve it with plain rice.  Enjoy!!
