Mean Mulaku curry / Chilly fish curry north kerala style
       It is one of the awesome fish curry that i eat. Fish tamarind, shallots and vinegar gives a nice flavour to this curry. Go head and make this........

Ingredients 
1.     Fish - 500g(cleaned and cut into small pieces).
2.     Shallots – 10-15 nos.
3.     Greenchillies - 3 nos
4.     Ginger – 1 “ piece.
5.     Garlic – 5 nos.
6.     Tomatoes – 1 finely chopped.
7.     Fish tamarind  - 2 nos socked in water.

8.     Red chilly powder – 3 tbspn.
9.     Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp.
10.   Coriander powder – ½ - 1 tsp.
11.   Fenugreek seeds – ½ tsp. 
12.   Curry leaves.
13.   Salt.
14.   Coconut oil.
15.   Vinegar – 2 tsp. (optional)
16.   Water.
Method of preparation:
1.  Heat 1 tbspn of oil in a a meen chatti(flat earthen pot),  Use low to medium flame throughout the cooking.
2.  Add fenugreek seed, curry leaves and chopped shallots. Fry it in low flame for 10 minutes.
3.  Add ginger, garlic, green chillies and chopped tomatoes.
4. On the mean time, take chilly powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder in a plate, mix it together, add some water and make a smooth paste.
5.  Transfer it to the pot. Fry it about 3-5 mins.
6.  Then add the fish tamarind and hot water, allow it to boil.
7. When it starts boil add fish pieces. Cover the pan and let it cook for another 5 minutes. Add enough amount of salt at this point.
8. Allow it to cook for another 5 mis, then drizzle vinegar ( it is optional)
9.   Let it cook for another 5 – 10 mints in low flame.
10.Now our fish pieces are cooked well and gravy thickened nicely. Make sure fish pieces are not broken.
11. Drizzle 1 tsp. of coconut oil ( optional) and some curry leaves.
12. Now our mean mulake curry ( red colour) is ready to serve.
13. Serve this hot curry with rice, chapathi, paratha etc. enjoy!!!!
