Alsa / Aleesa / Harees North Malabar Iftar Dish |
Ingredients:
- Wheat – 1 cup.
- Chicken pieces – 400 gms.
- Onion – 1 medium size.
- Garlic- 4-5 nos.
- Salt.
- Whole spices :
Cloves – 6-8 nos.
Cardamom – 4-5 nos.
- For garnishing:
Onion – 1 sliced.
Cashew nuts – 10 nos.
Raisins – 10 nos.
Raisins – 10 nos.
- Soak wheat in water for 6-8 hours.
- Take a deep pan or pressure cooker, add wheat, chicken, whole spices, onion, garlic, salt and boiling water. Water should cover wheat and chicken. Add water in between if needed.
- Cook on a low flame for 1- 1 ½ hours or till it done.
- The wheat and chicken must be cooked very well.
- Remove bones and large pieces of spices after chicken and wheat are cooked well. Mash this mixture by
using hand blender or food processor.
