Dates Pickle / Ethapazham achar Malabar style |
Ingredients:
- Dates – 250 gms.
- Ginger – 1 tbspn.
- Garlic – 1 Tbspn.
- Green chillies – 1 Tbspn.
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp.
- Chilli powder – 1 Tbspn.
- Vinegar – 2 tbspn.
- Mustard seed – ½ tsp.
- Sugar – 2 - 3 Tbspn.
- Salt.
- Oil.
- Curry leaves.

- Clean, deseed and slice the dates.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, when it splutter add curry leaves, chopped garlic, ginger and green chillies. Saute well.
- Add turmeric powder and chilly powder, mix well.
Dates Pickle / Ethapazham achar Malabar style - Add deseed and sliced dates to this and mix well with masala.
- Pour ¼ cup of water and cook it. Allow to mash the dates.
- Add sugar and salt. Mix well.
- Pour vinegar to this dates mixture. Mix well allow it to boil and switch of the flame.
- Now our tasty dates pickle is ready to serve, serve with Malabar biriyani, ghee rice etc. Enjoy!!!!
