Ingredients
1. For covering:
     Banana -  2 nos. not too ripe and not too raw
2. For making the stuffing:
  • Grated coconut - 2 Tbspn. 
  • Cardamom – ½ tsp.  
  • Sugar – 1 ½ -  2 tbsp.
  • Egg – 1 nos.
  • Cashew nuts – 10 nos.
  • Raisins – 10 -15 nos.
  • Coconut oil - 1 cup.
  • Ghee – 2 tbspn.

Method of preparation


1. To make stuffing –
  • Heat ghee in a pan.
  • Roast cashew nuts and raisins. To this add grated coconut, sugar, cardamom powder and egg. Stir well. Cook until all water evaporates.

2. To make banana covering:
  • Steam and cook the bananas in a steamer, remove from the steamer and let cool.Peel off the skin, remove the black seeds from it.
  • Mash the banana by using blender / food processor / potato masher / wooden spoon without any lumps.
  • Add few table spoon of rice flour, if dough is too watery.

3. Assemble unnakaya.

  • Grease your palm by using ghee (to avoid sticking on your hand), make small balls by using this dough.

  • Take each ball, spread it inside your palm. Place 1 tsp. of filling inside the flattened banana dough, Make it to an oval or round shape.
  • Like this make all unnakayas.

  • Heat oil in a pan, transfer each unnakaya to oil and deep fry it. Fry until it become golden brown color. Transfer it to a kitchen tissue.
  • Now our easy and tasty Unnakaya is ready to serve. Serve hot. Enjoy!!!!
