Ingredients
  •  Tomato - 2 Nos. Medium size.
  • Garlic – 4-5 large cloves.
  • Crushed black pepper – 1 ½ tsp.
  • Red chilly powder -  1/2 tsp.
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp.
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp.
  • Cumin seed – ¼ tsp.
  • Fenugreek – ¼ tsp.
  • Asafoetida powder - -2 pinch.
  • Tamarind – 1 lemon sized ball.  
  • Chopped coriander leaves –  1/2 cup.
  • Salt.
  • Water- 2 Liters
For tempering:
  • Coconut oil – 1 Tbspn.
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp.
  • Dry red chillies – 2-3 nos.
  • Curry leaves.

Method of Preparation:
  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it splutters, add dry red chillies and  curry leaves, followed by crushed garlic and stir well. 
  2. Then add crushed black pepper, cumin seeds, red chilly powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder, fry for less than a minute. 
  3. Then add tomatoes, again saute well. Transfer tamarind juice, half portion of coriander leaves, 2 cups of water and salt.
  4. Mix well and close the lid. Cook for 10-15 minutes in medium flame or till the tomatoes are fully cooked.
  5. Finally add fenugreek seed( roasted), pinch of asafoetida and remaining chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves. Cook it 2 more mins. and switch of the flame.
  6. Now our tasty rasam is ready to serve. Serve hot with rice. Enjoy!!!.
